Here are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions we get about how to use our service. If you are still having trouble, contact us.
Hits represent the total number of requests made to your web site. This could be for a file, image, pdf, etc. or even a file that doesn't exist.
Files represent the total number of hits (requests) that actually resulted in something being sent back to the user. Not all hits will send data, such as when a page does not existing, or if the user already has the item they are requesting cached on their computer.
Pages are those URLs that would be considered an actual web page being requested, and not all of the individual items that make it up a web page such as images. This statistic is commonly referred to as page views or page impressions.
Visits is an estimate of the total number of visits users make to your web site. This is calculated by tracking each Site and how long they stay on your site. These two statistics can be used to get a rough estimate of visitors to your site.
Sites is the number of unique IP addresses/hostnames that made requests to the server. Many users may originate from one IP Address, so this number is only a rough estimate of the number of users to your web site.
KBytes or Kilobytes is a measure of how much data your web site transferred in a given time period. We meter sites per Gigabyte, which is approximately 1 million Kilobytes.
Our email service supports both POP3 and IMAP services. If you don't know what these are, you most likely want to use POP3. You can setup most of the popular email clients, such as Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, Thunderbird, Eudora, etc. by using the following settings:
To change the password to your email account, first login to the Webmail Client using your username@domain (usually the same as your email address) and your current password. Once you are logged in, click on Options towards the top of the screen, then click on Change Your Password.
There are two types of email servers that we run, IMAP and POP. IMAP works by keeping mail on the server. POP works by downloading your mail to your computer.
When you check your mail via Webmail, it uses IMAP to check your mail. IMAP will insert the message 'DON'T DELETE THIS MESSAGE -- FOLDER INTERNAL DATA' into your email to keep track of folder information. When you then check your mail via POP using Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express, etc., this message will appear. It is safe to delete it in this case.
Any mail that is detected as spam by our system will be put into your Webmail Trash Folder. This allows you to review any messages that may have been incorrectly marked as junk. This feature can be disabled on a per mail box basis if you would like to do your own filtering.
Messages that you delete in our Webmail Client will move to your Webmail Trash Folder along with any messages that are determined to be Junk Mail. Any message in this folder will automatically be deleted after 30 days. All other messages will be left untouched.
We do try to improve our spam and virus filtering continously. That being said, our basic email service is a feature of our primary goal to provide a realiable and secure home for your web site.
If you would like to assist us with making the system better, you can forward any messages that don't get marked correctly to support@sysice.com. For this to work you must forward the message as an attachment, otherwise we can not fully analyze it.
If our solution is not doing the job for you, you may want to get an add-on service, or use an email client which has a built in spam filtering system, to try and reduce the amount on your end. We can change your account to forward your mail to another provider which may have filtering to suits your usage better. A third option would be to get a third-party service to handle your email filtering like PostINI, SpamArrest, or ChoiceMail.
